We are almost at the end of lockdown NO.3! This year wasn't easy for anyone for so many reasons! We are missing out on a lot of things: meetings with loved ones and friends, children are missing school, everyone is in a hair and nail crisis, no one is going on holidays, and... there were no newborn sessions allowed.
We can't turn back time but instead we can enjoy what we have and make lovely memories anyway, despite all difficulties.
The golden rule you may have heard about, is that newborn sessions should be scheduled within the first couple of weeks of your baby's life, and this has a few practical advantages. At this stage babies are calmer and sleeping more, so the photo session is less disrupted and posing can go smoother.
To tell you the truth... yes, it is smoother, but maily for the photographer. It is not hard to see that it is easer to work with a sleepy baby, then with one that is constantly awake and moving all the time.
But even though newborns sessions require a ton of patience, practise and energy, they can also be done at a later stage as well with amazing results!
When I started my photography business journey, I was convinced that I either manage to take pictures of newborns between day 5 and 14, or that's it, the window is missed until they are about 6 months old (which is another milestone, called a sitter or sitting up session). Later, after years of experience, I have learned that this is not the case.
Now I'm photographing babies at any age, they can be 5 days, 5 weeks or 15 weeks old and I always deliver results my clients love.
It is true that a 15 weeks old baby will be sleeping less and we will probably get more awake portraits, however they will be just as cute, and you will love them as much as you would the newborn ones or even more, I can promise this! These portraits will be more natural and less posed than those from a newborn session, and will be showing more personality of your child. Yet you will still preserve memories from when your baby was little.
If you booked your newborn session before lockdown, your session fee can be transferred when your baby is older or towards other milestone sessions at 4 months old, sitter session (6-9 months old) or even a cake smash first birthday session.
All sessions in my Chester studio are including portraits of your new baby, along with sibling and family photos for you to cherish.
